Lumos Bike Light Mini

I have this helmet and the lights on it make me feel safer recommend to any cyclist. Well done guys

Higher quality light that’s worth the money. I’ve gotten the cheap ones and went back to Lumos for my second light. Only complaint is its very hard to remove the light from the universal adapter mount once its snapped in, but you pretty much only do this once. I wish it didn't require so many various adapters.

I am hard to miss when riding. Even though I only ride during daylight hours between my helmet lights, my 4 firefly lights, directional signals and brake lights I am very visible which is what I want.

The mounting needs improvement as the magnet is not strong enough to hold with the poor road conditions we have in the US, I have lost 2 sets of lights and now ride with rubber 0 rings crossed over the light to hold it in place, They work well, I do find the sync funtion a little difficulty

I bought the four-piece Firefly Mini light set to supplement the rear-only directionals on my Velotric Discover 2 e-bike. I also purchased a remote that I mounted adjacent to the stock controller, a mounting bracket that I attached onto the back of the seat, and a four-unit contact charging pad that allows simultaneous charging. The Mini units came directly from Lumos online while the accessory items came indirectly from Amazon.

The blue tooth pairing was pretty straightforward. And once that setup was committed to Lumos memory, it’s been very reliable. Two of the units are zip tied to the outer, front frame of the handlebar-mounted basket, and the rear units snap into the magnetic holders on the bracket and straddle over the rear of the extra battery hard bag that itself is velcro strapped onto the rear fender bracket. I really like the durability of the magnets that allow easy removal of either of the units for initially powering on and periodically pulling to recharge. I’ve ridden over wash-boarded gravel roads, and have never had any of the units jarred loose. The illumination and choices of color shades are excellent and very visible from a distance without being too “loud” close in.

Some suggested areas of improvement: the width of the seat bracket mount could be wider to allow for more clearance from the outer sides of the spare battery holder hard bag. And perhaps I’m missing something, but each unit needs to be powered on individually, whereas powering all units off is done by simply toggling off only one unit. It’d be convenient if all units coordinated and featured simultaneous powering on as well as off.

One more thing: I ended up returning the Lumos proprietary four-unit capacity charging pad that I had also purchased from Amazon, as it failed to make the needed connections and initiate actual charging. None of the charging indicators showed anything after initially blinking four times. After contacting a very helpful Lumos customer service rep via email, I ended up returning the pad to Amazon for full refund rather than chance another pad. The price of the pad and a review of other customers experiencing similar issues convinced me to stick with charging the Minis with conventional USB cables. And yes, I had ensured that the USB charging unit had the required wattage specs. From what I read, the regular sized Lumos Firefly units don’t have issues with the charging pad, which, candidly speaking, is on the pricing side. The two USB cables I received with the four Firefly Mini units do each feature a Y connection allowing two Firefly Mini units to run through one USB charger. So two, separate USB chargers are in use to charge all four Mini units, which is not a major inconvenience.

All in all, I’m glad I bit the bullet and bought the product, and do feel safer riding with it.
