I remember the kickstarter and was thrilled to see it come to reality on the bigger market. I usually spend around at most $80 on a helmet in the past. But splurging with this one was well worth it. Fits like no other helmet I’ve owned. Made really well. Easy to use. The lights are and features are incredible. I got the MiPS version and feel even more comfortable and safe. Amazing design looks good and functional above all else. Highly recommend.. I’ll probably get another one in a few months to have A different color.
“I got it for my daughter, who loves it! She lives in Portland Oregon & the “big dark” of the winter months in the NW makes it important to have lots of bike lighting. She recently completed a 6 week, solo bike excursion in the UK, from Lands End to Scotland this summer and likes to keep riding in the dark winter months”
“My yellow Ultra helmet works beautifully, and I love the MIPS head support. Best fit I have ever gotten in a helmet. Go ahead and order it, you will not regret it.”
The improved battery life is significant. It eliminates the need to carry and charge the helmet for all rides longer than 2 hours. The handlebar left/right remote has not needed to be recharged since I’ve received it. The older remote signal device required weekly recharging. Nice change!!!!!!! Actual light visibility changes are hard to determine.Thank you for the upgrades. I’m a very serious 71 year old biking enthusiast. Your upgrades and changes to your products are exciting as well as comforting to me. I’m on an 8k goal this year.
I had an accident on my bicycle a few weeks ago and ended up with a punctured lung, five broken ribs, assorted scrapes and bruises and a chunk missing from my Lumos helmet. But my head was unharmed - no injury to my head whatsoever. I bought the MIPS version, and I think that my be why my neck didn't even hurt the next day.Thank you, Lumos, for this excellent product. It did its job brilliantly and I will be replacing it with another Lumos helmet.
Nice, lightweight and fits pretty well.
Worth every penny. Comfortable, looks smart and I also feel safer cycling country roads. And finally a cycling helmet that actually fits my big old bonce!
Replace my Helmet without question having not used it since I purchased it some years ago as the lacquer on the helmet was flaking. Got the new replacement helmet within days. Brilliant Customer Service that many companies could learn from.
I can't speak to the performance or quality of the product itself as it was a gift and it didn't fit the recipient, so I requested a return. I have never had to deal with a more convoluted and dodgy returns process. Apart from the fact that I received a helmet in the post, I have no idea if I'm dealing with a real company. It's all super weird. The shipping takes ages (direct from Hong Kong or China, I assume), then their supposedly (I quote) "30 day hassle free returns" is the most hassle I've had to go through for a return possibly ever, and I'm still not convinced I'll get my money back. They do at least make it clear upfront they don't cover costs of returns, but that's fairly standard. Where it gets weird is that you contact the helpdesk, then they give you what looks like a random residential address to send the helmet to. Except you have to handwrite a note to put in there with the serial number of the helmet on it, plus a list of everything in the order (because they can't look it up...?). They don't make how to do any of this very clear, so I basically plastered my order number anywhere I could (it was already ringing alarm bells as an odd process). Then you post to said random residential address somewhere in London (although who knows, maybe they vary the address? There doesn't seem to be a business registered to that address so no way to check it is legit associated with Lumos). Apparently someone at this address then sends it to a warehouse somewhere else, where the helmet will be "inspected" for "resale" condition. So in other words, you pay for postage, send it to some random person's home (no name given as to who you should address the delivery to), then they post it somewhere else (presumably back to China or Hong Kong?). Only then do they confirm (supposedly, I'm still waiting with no update at all for about a week after the parcel was confirmed as delivered to the address they gave me) that the return has been accepted. So it could get damaged or lost in onwards transit, completely out of your control, and I guess you don't then get your refund. Seems utterly scammy and weird, and far from "hassle free". As much as I'd love to support independent and innovative start ups and avoid using Amazon etc, I seriously suggest if you want one of these helmets, buy through a third party stockist like Amazon or a physical bike shop so you have some protection (either for failure to deliver or refunds/returns, or I guess for general consumer protection). These helmets are not cheap, and ultimately they are safety kit - it's just too much to gamble on an untraceable company with no business premises in the UK, seemingly not subject to UK laws (their T&Cs claim to fall under jurisdiction of State of Delaware) and, presumably, therefore lacking in any protection or recourse for UK consumers. It's also not clear exactly how this works - you buy from a company, but return to an individual?
I ordered these hats some weeks ago. You sent me a email with a shipping details, however this only told me that the goods had left your depo. I have no other information.I don't know who is shipping it to Jersey and when it will be delivered. Alison Vautier
