My Lumos helmet broke, the electronics no longer went, no lighting, could not load it anymore! Lumos helped me immediately and sent me a new helmet! Great service, very customer-friendly and helpful. Anytime again a Lumos helmet! Thanks to the customer service team!
So, I'll start by saying that I also have a regular Lumos Ultra, which I love and use all the time, along with a set of awesome Firefly lights -- this is strictly a (bad!!!) review of the Ultra E-Bike helmet!
When it was announced, I had very high hopes for this new, "upgraded" model of the Ultra; the visor, after all, seemed like a great option for night riding, and an additional set of front-blinkers seemed perfect to carry me over until the new Firefly lights would arrive (several months later). The problem is that, in practice, the visor basically fails at providing any shielding from the elements; I'm not sure why that is, but I'm guessing the aerodynamics of it are simply wrong somehow. On top of that, the optics of the visor are extremely uneven, and it distorts my vision frighteningly at almost any angle except dead-center; this is obviously completely useless for riding, and actually quite dangerous. Further, the lights from the helmet refract in the lower edges of the visor quite a bit, which again is very distracting and dangerous, especially at night.
Having pointed out the above, the helmet is fine with the visor up ... but that obviously defeats the reason of why this model exists, and at that point it looks rather weird/bulky, weighs more than it should, and has very strangely-angled turn-signals in front. Still, if there were a simple way to remove that horrible visor, I could at least use the helmet without it; unfortunately, though, the front blinkers are integrated into the hinge/bracket - which was a terrible design-choice - and there is simply no way to get rid of the visor without basically breaking the helmet (at least from what I can tell).
In summary, I would have returned this helmet almost immediately after receiving it, but because I decided to buy this version of the Ultra helmet as part of the Firefly Kickstarter campaign, I was not able to do so and simply got stuck with it. :-(
